Functionality holds the key to success in the bathroom, as does a little time and effort. We’ve compiled a list of the 5 most common faux pas, which almost every chap is guilty of when it comes to pruning himself.

1. Using too much product;

If your product suggests that a pea-sized amount will do the job, then a pea-sized amount is what you should use. Don’t fall into the ‘the more I use, the more effective it will be’ school of thought. The reality is, your skin will make the most of what it requires and the rest will be totally wasted. Remember what you think when she’s donning her foundation, “less is more sweetheart.”

2. Rough with the scrub

Your facial scrub is more than capable of doing its job without you sanding it down like a piece of 2 x 4. The grains the scrub contains will remove the dead skin cells and lift stubborn dirt by simply stroking it across the face. Top tip, rest your thumbs under the jaw-line and just use the 4 fingers of both hands to spread the formula.

3. Over-zealous with the razor

Your razor removes growth, it also removes a very fine layer of skin with each stroke. If you repeatedly stroke the razor across areas of growth, the razor will expose skin which is not ready for the elements, thus leaving a surface which is almost guaranteed to host the most amazing rash. Avoid by; holding the skin taught when using your blade, maintaining consistent pressure on the handle and using as few strokes as possible.

4. Patience is a virtue, for those who never had to wait.

On this occasion, you will be required to wait. Your product may well be capable of delivering exactly what it say on the bottle however, the results will not appear overnight. Be patient. We recommend allowing at least 28 days before deciding whether to continue using the concoction, or not.

5. Super groomer one day, super tramp the next.

Consistency will reap more than you will ever sow, so follow a simple routine each and every day. Practicing like a pro one day, then falling foul the next will get you nowhere. Allocate 5 minutes each morning to tend to your good self. You really are worth it.
