Originally founded by the Carthusian monks of Capri, Carthusia fragrances are steeped in Italian heriatge. Each scent tells a story, one of charm, wisdom and nostalgia. The perfumes have been created using the natural foliage found on the island of Capri, thus delivering an aroma that is fresh, uplifting and simply superb. The story began over 700 years ago and still resonates clearly in modern day perfumery. The Carthusian monks were perparing for a royal visit in 1380 and collected a handful of flowers to offer Queen Joan of Anjou on arrival. The flowers remained in the same water for three days and upon disposal, the monks discovered a scent that was completely unknown to them. That very scent became the original Carthusia fragrance.
