Triumph & Disaster is a range of natural products, for the discerning gentleman, which has been created by former professional cricketer Dion Nash.
Triumph & Disaster refer to themselves as a modern Apothecary & Skincare Foundry and the philosophy behind this new brand is based around merging old and new, with traditional skincare products like: Old Fashioned Shave Cream and Shearer’s Soap presented in modern, stylish packaging - formulated with ingenious, performance-driven preparation techniques.
This exclusive, boutique-style brand fuses nature with scientific formulations and sources naturally-derived ingredients from exotic locations around the globe, such as: New Zealand, Australia, Polynesia and Mexico – expertly combining them, using sustainable techniques, to create supremely effective men’s skincare products.
Professional sportsman and former New Zealand cricketer, Dion Nash is the brains behind Triumph & Disaster. When he started the company, three years ago; Nash wanted to create a male skincare brand based around traditional values and old fashioned male grooming rituals - to remind men of the value of preparation and the long-forgotten, masculine pride associated with being well-groomed.
After initially deciding to launch a skincare range, the name Triumph & Disaster wasn’t established until Nash rediscovered a framed poem his father had given him many years before, entitled: ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling. This renowned poem includes the famous line: ‘If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs…’ and is said to be advice, from a father to a son, on how to be a man. When Nash read another poignant line in the poem, which goes: ‘if you can meet with Triumph & Disaster and treat those two imposters just the same’ – he had his brand and the skincare line was borne.
Triumph & Disaster’s impressive range includes a range of products with interesting titles, such as: the Rock & Roll Suicide Face Scrub – which is formulated with Volcanic Ash, Green Clay and Salicylic Acid to lift dead skin cells and reveal a renewed and revitalised complexion whilst preventing ingrown hairs. Or, there’s the Game Face Moisturiser – which instantly hydrates skin with Vitamin E and essential oils and dries to a nourished, matte finish. If you only buy one product from the range, however, we’d recommend the incredibly versatile YLF Wash – which can be used as a clarifying shampoo, nourishing face wash and refreshing body wash, thanks to its gentle formulation of: Rosewood Essential Oil, Vitamin E, Marine Collagen and Kawakawa Extract (from the New Zealand Pepper Tree) – a great all-in-one product for the gym and to use whilst travelling. Not forgetting, their incredible Old Fashioned Shave Cream – which comes in in a 90ml tube or an attractive-looking 100ml jar.
